Book Donation Guidelines
We hate to tell anyone that we have limits, but some books are simply not appropriate. If you want to send a book that isn't mentioned on this list, go ahead, and if we can't use it, we'll get it to someone who does. We don't sell books. (So don't come asking to buy!)

Please make sure all books are in good condition. We don't mind books that have been highlighted a little, but use good judgment. If there's highlighting on every page, we probably can't use it. Ditto for scribbling or doodling.

We like books that have covers and all their pages, ones with no water damage and aren't warped with age.

Also, before you donate a book, hold on to the spine, and shake each book gently. Very often people leave things in books and forget about them. Like receipts with credit card numbers, photographs, birthday cards and our favorite: money! (If you forget and we find something, we'll try and return it to you.)

Here's what we really love:
  • College-level textbooks, especially in the following subjects:
  • Science
  • Mathematics
  • Medicine
  • Computer Science
  • Finance
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • ESOL (English as a Second Language)
  • Encyclopedias, atlases and dictionaries (Less than 5 years old)
  • Classic Literature (Shakespeare, etc.)
  • Computer books (Less than 5 years old)
  • School supplies
But we also like:
  • Fiction - Again, only classics please. (No Danielle Steele)
  • Fashion design
  • Media - TV, Radio, Journalism
  • Psychology and Sociology
  • Art, Music, Photography
  • Foreign Languages
  • History - (The broader the better. A book about your country is great; a book about your town is probably not.)
  • Middle Eastern History - Email or call us. We are in need, but it depends on the book.
These are books we really do not need:
  • American Culture
  • Cookbooks
  • Current Fiction (Mystery, Romance, etc.)
  • Religious subjects or pamphlets
  • American Tax Laws
  • Guidebooks
  • Books that are meant to be used with a missing CD or DVD
  • Albums
  • Catalogues
  • Directories
  • College Test Prep books (MCAT, SAT etc)
  • Magazines
